A YEAR IN REVIEW:

Where we’ve been for the last 300 days
Studio shot

The last ten months here at Rubic Design + Interactive have been amazing. As a forward-thinking design and web development studio, we are passionate about things like creative design, web standards, user-experience and accessibility, and the Drupal web platform. We’ve spent countless hours (7,000 if you do the math) designing and building solutions around these. It’s no surprise we’ve seen a lot of change. After all, part of the fun of design and web development is the spirit of invention. So, what have we been up to since our last blog post in June 2011? Here goes.

36-Hours in Newport

We recently had the pleasure to redesign/develop websites for two Newport hot spots: the historic & vibrant Jane Pickens Theater as well as Newport's award-winning mexican restaurant, Perro Salado. How to Create an Online Community around Your Online Storefront

It’s one thing to develop an online storefront for your business or organization. You need to sell stuff, take donations or have regularly occurring online subscriptions. And you may want to even SEND payments and manage user accounts online for your partners and suppliers. Over the last few years here at the studio, we've been using Drupal's set of e-commerce modules called “Ubercart” - German for “cart which exhibits extreme awesomeness.”

Today we rolled-out a new branding system for Friends of the Jane Pickens Theater & Event Center. FRIENDS is the newly formed non-profit arm of the Theater itself – dedicated to supporting and promoting arts and culture in Newport, Rhode Island and beyond. The group will develop fundraising drives and events that help preserve the historic Jane Pickens Theater as physical structure and modern center for the Arts.

Interactive Branding + Motion Graphics

Everything that can be digital will be digital, especially fictitious lands

One of the most exciting assignments these days has to be motion graphics and interactive/digital branding. More and more, we see the need (and opportunity) for motion graphics, video and digital branding. Its no secret interactive is replacing traditional TV and print campaign for many industries. The short example above was a multimedia piece we completed for Emmy-Award® winner Sprague Theobald.
